Omani Startup AKEED Raises $2.5M Series A Round

Pioneer Investors – The Akeed Delivery, the Oman’s leading food delivery app is making a big splash in Oman’s budding F&B space, raising $2.5 million in its Series A round backed by existing investors Phaze Ventures and IDO, the Sultanate’s Sovereign Wealth Fund—two of the most active supporters of the Omani startups.

Since the start in 2018 by Moosa Al Lawati, Gaurav Nahar, and Darshan Puranik, the on-demand food delivery service has onboarded more than 1500 restaurants across Oman and expanded its offering to include groceries. This latest investment will help the startup scale its operations and enhance its technological capabilities, says CEO Nahar:

Our mission has been to digitalize the restaurants and stores with state-of-the-art technology for customers. The support we receive will help us to make technological developments, create more delivery jobs and provide quality service to our customers and vendors.” Co-founder Moosa Al Lawati added, “We are pleased to announce the round of funding for our business, and we are thankful to our investors, Phaze Ventures and IDO (Sovereign Fund) for supporting a local delivery company.”

Given the immense untapped potential of Oman’s startup ecosystem, Akeed Delivery is set on capturing the majority of the F&B local market and solidifying its position as the leading player in the on-demand food delivery game.
